This is the first in a series of courses for the beginning or intermediate herbalist. It is a four-week course held every Tuesday evening from January 20th until February 10th beginning at 6:30pm. This is your opportunity to learn from one of the only in-person guided courses in the surrounding areas. It is for those that would like to be mentored directly from an experienced local practitioner and have access to that teacher for clarification and advice

Have you ever wondered how to get started in herbalism, wondered who you could learn from, or need guidance expanding your current knowledge? This is your chance to learn from an experienced and professional Clinical Herbalist on how to further your knowledge about herbal medicine and how to gain experience to continue your study in this field. Every week you will find in-depth trusted information that you are seeking to help you develop your own natural remedies at home and become a reliable herbalist in the future.

Continue the journey learning herbalism with this collection of courses focused on the plants themselves. You will learn about identifying characteristics and how the knowledge of plant families can help you in determining more about the plant’s medicinal offerings. You will learn how to connect to the plant through many different types of techniques with hands-on exercises in class and be introduced to individual herbs. You will come away from this session understanding more than just “this herb for that condition or symptom” with the concept of energetics which helps the herbalist choose the right herb for an individual. With this information, the herbalist will be more proficient in healing themselves and their family.

This session will focus on herbal medicine ad the many different factors needed to create the best herbal preparations for your home. Mary will discuss topics of safety, shelf-life, the use of fresh or dried herbs, dosing and measurements, and more. You will feel more confident in your competency, creativity, and applications with many different herbs.

Making Herbal Remedies

This is the fourth and final course in this series for the beginning or intermediate herbalist. It is a four-week course held every Tuesday evening from May 5th until May 26th beginning at 6:30pm. This is your opportunity to learn from one of the only in-person guided courses in the surrounding areas. It is for those that would like to be mentored directly from an experienced local practitioner and have access to that teacher for clarification and advice

In this final session, Mary will take all of the information you have learned and help you create and experience making herbal remedies for your own family. Mary will discuss the types of herbal remedies she has in her apothecary and the different types of situations they are needed for. She will offer additional herbal monographs to add to your materia medica, as well as inspire you to create more herbal remedies at home. Go on a plant walk where you will identify a plant, harvest from it, and create a remedy right in class. Gain more experience and hands-on training to have the self-confidence moving forward in creating your own herbal preparations.

Earth Day Celebration

Join both Mary Colvin RH(AHG) of Ancestral Herbology and Nora Knople of Haven Hypnosis to Celebrate Earth Day! Mary will take you on a relaxing hike discovering Spring herbs that are available in our area to forage for both nutrition and medicine. We will take the foraged herbs back to the kitchen to make a chickweed pesto that all can enjoy along with some refreshments. Nora will finish this gathering with a gentle guided meditation to honor the Earth and the plant allies that are generously provided.

Bring your muck boots, walking sticks, and appropriate clothing depending on the weather!
